  • According to Aisha Mohammed, Minister of Urban Development and Construction of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE), Ethiopia's urbanization rate has reached 5.4 percent.

    He said the rapid urbanization of the Southern Nations, Nationalities and People's Region (SNNPR) is unstoppable due to the migration from rural to urban areas.
    According to Aisha, it is important to build strong community participation and implement regulations and legal frameworks to make cities clean, healthy and attractive.   • Alemtsehai Paulos, State Minister of Health of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE), who is participating in the National Health Institutions Service Exchange Forum in Jinka, visited Jinka General Hospital.

    The Minister toured the hospital with selected health professionals from the Ministry of Health, all regions and 2 city administrations. Jinka General Hospital has been recognized for its outstanding performance in terms of service delivery nationwide.
    Hosted by the Southern Nations, Nationalities and People's Region (SNNPR) Bureau of Health, the National Health Institutions Service Forum, which is being held in Jinka, South Omo Zone, witnessed the service delivery of Alert and Jinka Hospitals on the first day of February 12.
    The Ministry of Health and the Southern Nations, Nationalities and People's Region Health Bureau's service delivery experiences and research in the sector were also presented at the forum.

  • A forum was held in Hawassa to resolve conflicts in the Amaro and Burji Special Woredas of the Southern Nations, Nationalities and People's Region (SNNPR) and in the West Guji Zone of Oromia State.

    It was stated that the people should continue to interact with each other by enhancing the old values of coexistence. Representatives of the two regions who participated in the forum held in Hawassa said that we must work harder than ever to maintain peace in our region and bring the peace we want. "We have lost a lot of people in the last few years and we have gained nothing, so we need to pay attention to it," he said.
    Participants said that the values of unity can be restored by focusing on issues that benefit both peoples. He said if we want to ensure peace, we must work to ensure the rule of law by extraditing criminals in both areas and not collaborating.
    The government should do its part to ensure the rule of law and the community should do its part, he said.
